May 21, 2015<\/em><\/p>\n The criminal charges against former NFL player Ray Rice have been dropped after completing a pre-trial intervention program mandated by the state of New Jersey.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, in spite of the video evidence, even his suspension from the Ravens and the public\u2019s justifiably strong reaction seem to have been stronger punishments than the courts in New Jersey were able to deliver.<\/p>\n The lenient court-ordered punishment sends a terrible message to abusers and victims alike: society still doesn\u2019t take domestic violence seriously enough.
